Weekly Scores

Apparently, the MTJFL didn't post scores for week three. I'm not sure why, so I continue to wait. I've put the win-loss records after each team but this does NOT include week three as I don't know those yet. It is overall and NOT division games only. You all will have to do your own math for those (or ask Coach Mike!!).

Week Four Scores are as follows:

Pleasant View - 46 (2-1)
White House West (blue) - 12 (0-3)

East Robertson - 12 (2-1)
White House East (white) - 47 (3-0)

Mr. Linn Goldsmith came out on our 9/11 tribute day and took some photos. They are available here for those who want to view them. Mr. Goldsmith allows you to copy, save and print photos free as well.

Vikings Smoke Indians 30-0

What a BIG win for those 11/12 Vikings who travelled to South Cheatham to face division rivals, the Indians on a scorcher of a day.

Second string players got a lot more play time during this game and they did a fantastic job.

Photos from today's win are located here.

See below for a slideshow of the photos.

Next week, we are on the road again facing Jo Byrns at their field.

Stats from this week's game will be forthcoming.

I continue to check the MTJFL website for scores from last week's games, but they are not up yet.

An interesting tidbit: Joelton Vikings have scored 145 points during regular season play. Their opponents? 24. WAY TO GO BOYS!!! The season is not over yet -- far from it. We are on a road to the Superbowl and we still have six more stops before we reach the destination: Superbowl 2010.

Revenge Tour 2010 is going well!!

Vikings Soar over Eagles: Win 43-12

After the moving 9/11 tribute early in the day, the Vikings got down to some serious football. All three age divisions won on Saturday. The 11/12 team scored big and played hard, even in the face of multiple flags being thrown and touchdowns being called back.

We had a few injuries. We are hopeful that Bailey Baker's back is ok. We took some grief from the other team (Yellow Shoes Johnson) -- hey Poss, how did they know they were yellow when all they could see were the whites of them as you were running for touchdowns?? -- and some serious frustrations from the officials who threw flag after flag after flag.

But, in true VIKING SPIRIT, the team overcame all obstacles and used our skills to show that we will not be defeated!

Photos from this week's game are located here.

Stats will be provided soon.

Upcoming Dates/Updates

Coach Mike let us know lots of important things that are coming up for the Vikings over the next few weeks. If you are like me, you need to update your calendars. PLEASE share this with others who might not have email. I will cross post it on our FB page and our blog.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS

September 30 - Thursday
Homecoming Meal and Fun Game between Coaches/Parents
October 1 - Friday
Homecoming Dance
October 2 - Saturday
Homecoming Game
Camp-out to Follow -- plan to bring tents if you want to spend the night and dirt bikes/4 wheelers if you want to ride
October 9 - Saturday
Night time after games - Meet back at park for trip to Haunted Houses

POST SEASON TOURNAMENTS:
Coach Mike mentioned that our team will have to make a decision about whether we (as a team) want to participate in the Ralph Spangler Bowl. It is a tournament with local teams that we played in last year. We won the trophy there last year. The other choice is the King of the Hill tournament in Owensboro, KY. The dates of that are November 13-14. There is a website at http://www.odcyouthsports.com/football/king/.

Maggie will have a sign-up sheet/decision sheet Monday night for us to vote on which one we would like to go to.

NEXT WEEK'S GAME:
Next week we play South Cheatham at Harpeth High School. Game time is 2 pm. Plan to be there by 1 pm. Directions are below.
South Cheatham:

I-40 West – exit Kingston Springs #188, turn right and go .2 miles to three way stop, turn right and go .4 miles to Harpeth High School on left. Field is in front of School.

FUNDRAISING UPDATES:

The park fundraiser is complete. All fundraising we do from here on out is to benefit all our boys at the end of the year. Kevin Latham should get the Little Caesars Pizza Kit fundraiser paperwork this week (likely tomorrow). Each pizza kit/cheese bread kit/etc. sells for between $15-$18 and usually includes 3 pizza kits. For each "kit" we sell, we make $5. If each kid on the team can sell four kits, we will make $500 to use for the end of the year banquet. HOWEVER, if we (as a team) could sell 200 kits, we would have $1000 toward our banquet. We will pass these forms out as soon as they come in. These are typically very easy selling items.

Keep in mind, if (sorry -- WHEN) we win the Superbowl, we will need to purchase rings. I'm not sure how much they were a few years ago, but I think they were around $75 each. The park gave us some money for them, but we were responsible for about $50 per ring (or around $1300). In addition, we would like to pay as much on each boy's end-of-year photo book (promise I'll do it faster this year!!) as possible. There are also the other "swag" we'd like to get the kids. You can see we need several thousand dollars to accomplish this. We have done it in year's past, and I'm sure we can do it again.

Vikings Roll Over Bobcats

Photos from this week's game can be found here.

Everyone thought it was going to be a tough game; and it was, but not for the reasons we thought. Everyone thought the Greenbrier Bobcats would bring some tough competition for the Joelton Vikings this year, but it turned out to be a sweet victory with the final score 32-0.

Not to say it wasn't a hard-fought game as the Bobcats were out for a victory by whatever means possible. But the Vikings stayed true to themselves and the game and came out the real winners in the end -- both on and off the field. What photos can't show are the multiple times the Vikings lifted up their own, showed support to one another and even to the opposition. What photos can't show is the never give up, never quit, never retaliate nature of a Viking. And, what photos really can't show is the final score on the scoreboard and the Bobcat scoreboard was broken. We won't soon forget it though. A total shut-out.

Statistics from this game will be here in a few days.
